As we mature many things change in our bodies, our hair is no different. Sometimes it becomes brittle and coarse and more difficult to style. For this reason many mature women will choose a shorter easier style with more volume and a more flattering look.
Paying attention to your diet is also important. Getting enough vitamins, protein, and water in your diet is also important to having healthy hair.
We also need to pay attention to the medications we take as they not only effect the hair itself, but the performance of the hair care products that you might choose to use. Medications that treat heart conditions and high blood pressure especially, are among that may effect your hair health.
Other things to consider for mature hair is limiting the amount of heat applied to the hair, this would include blow drying, and curling/straightening irons. Days where you have the time, let your hair air-dry, reducing your hairs exposure to heat will reap great benefits when it comes to your hairs condition.
One last thing, when possible try not to shampoo every day allowing natural oils to help condition your hair. Over-shampooing strips away all the natural oils and may leave your hair feeling dry and brittle.
